750cc Grand Prix © Codemasters 1989 The CPC Zone Review 750CC Grand Prix (programmed by Ken Murfit and distributed by Codemasters) is just one of the many motorbike racing games that arrived in the mid 1980's to early 1990's on the home computer not to mention the mega popular arcade hit Hang-On by Sega. This takes on much the same role as the others and sets you racing the motorbike grand prix against some of the best racers in the scene, your aim is to finish each course in first place, failure to do so will result in early retirement from the game. Review coming up.... Those that have played Hang-On (8-Bit Conversion) will no doubt recognise the vaguely similar graphics brought to life by Codemasters 750CC GP. The road is pretty well designed, your player looks quite good, well coloured and animated throughout the race. There are plenty of obstacles to avoid and bends in the track every so often, the other riders also look very familiar but with a different costume to your own so you can easily distinguish between them. As for sound, well Codemasters do the usual well known trick of adding music to the start of the game and letting it run through into the gameplay itself. We do get to hear the roar of the 750CC engine but only at the start and for a few brief seconds. The music however is on top CM form and is well worth listening to. If you love motorbike racing games then you should get along fine with this excellent title by Codemasters. The control system is very easy (joystick) and allows you to move around corners with ease, the idea of the game is just as simple as the rest of the genre and that is to come first in each race (easier said then done though). There are no known glitches in the game which will prevent you from completing it, no sprite errors or collision problems are noticable and it plays pretty damned fast to boot. The only problem we have with this type of racing game is the sometimes awkward view the appears when you go behind or in front of an horizon (notice how you can no longer see were you are going). But on top of all that the game is very well presented and comes highly recommended by CPC Zone.
